Y&R New Zealand snares Direct Grand Prix and Print & Publishing Grand Prix at Spikes Asia for Burger King ‘McWhopper’ campaign

McWhopper_Box-web.jpgThe Burger King ‘McWhopper’ campaign via Y&R New Zealand has continued its winning run, taking out both the Direct Grand Prix and the Print & Publishing Grand Prix at Spikes Asia tonight in Singapore.

Overall, New Zealand and Australia put in a good performance, taking home an impressive haul of Gold, Silver and Bronze Spikes.

Creative Effectiveness

Clemenger BBDO Wellington scored one of only three Spikes awarded, for NZTA ‘Mistakes’.

Design

DDB Group New Zealand won a Gold Spike for Sky TV ‘Fargo Woollens’, one of only five Gold Spikes awarded. The same work also scored a Silver Spike, one of 10 awarded. Leo Burnett Melbourne won a Bronze Spike for the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.

There were only eight Gold Spikes awarded in this category. Clemenger BBDO Melbourne won three Gold Spikes, a Silver Spike and Bronze Spike for Snickers ‘Hungerithm’, while Leo Burnett, Melbourne won a Gold Spike, two Silver Spikes and a Bronze Spike for Headspace ‘Reword’. Colenso BBDO, Auckland won a Silver Spike for Amnesty International ‘World Day Against Cyber Censorship’ while Leo Burnett, Sydney won a Silver Spike and two Bronze Spikes for Samsung ‘Celebrity Tantrum’ and Y&R New Zealand won a Silver Spike and Bronze Spike for Burger King ‘McWhopper’. Bronze Spikes went to Clemenger BBDO Melbourne for the Bonds campaign, Holler Sydney for Audi R8 ‘Blink’, The Royals, Sydney for Deakin University ‘Stress Break’, McCann Melbourne for MIFF ‘The Emotional Trailer’ and DDB New Zealand for Soho Channel ‘URXXL’. 

Digital Craft

McCann Melbourne won a Gold Spike, one of only three awarded, for MIFF ‘The Emotional Trailer’. The work also won a Bronze Spike. Colenso BBDO Auckland won a Bronze Spike for Pedigree ‘A Dog’s Story’.

Direct

Y&R New Zealand won the Grand Prix for Burger King ‘McWhopper’, which also won a Gold Spike and Silver Spike. Colenso BBDO Auckland won the only other Golds awarded, two for DB Export ‘Brewtroleum’. Leo Burnett, Melbourne won two Silver Spikes for Headspace ‘Reword’. GPY&R Brisbane won two Bronze Spikes for Australia Road Safety Foundation ‘Life Saving Stickers’, as did Clemenger BBDO Melbourne for Snickers ‘Hungerithm’ and DDB New Zealand for Soho Channel ‘URXXL’. Bronze Spikes were awarded to Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne for Bonds ‘The Boys’, Clemenger BBDO, Wellington for NZTA ‘Hello’, Colenso BBDO Auckland for Anchor Milk ‘X-Ray Casts’, and Leo Burnett, Sydney for Samsung ‘Celebrity Tantrum’.

Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne won a Gold Spike (and Bronze) for Bonds ‘The Boys’, Octagon, Sydney won Gold (and Bronze) for Dove Men’s + Care and Urban, Sydney won for Airbnb ‘#Hostwithpride’. Silver Spikes were awarded to Colenso BBDO Auckland for New World ‘Little Kitchen’ and to The Royals, Sydney for Deakin University ‘Stress Break’. Bronze Spikes were won by Leo Burnett, Sydney for Canon Australia ‘The Lab’ and by Revolver/Will O’Rourke for ANZ ‘Gaynz’.
