POWERBOY-Key Visual.jpgLast week saw the worldwide launch of the highly anticipated arcade action game, Super Powerboy. The game, developed by leading UK gaming company, Pixel Blast ~ with creative input from Leo Burnett, Sydney senior creative Adam Bodfish ~ has already been listed on the App Stores Top Hot Games List as one to watch.

Set in a world that has been taken over by alien invaders, the game features a brave schoolboy who is the only one who can stop them. As players help him progress through the levels, they can increase the character’s abilities by unlocking parts of an Iron Man-esque power suit.

Game visual[1].jpgIn its first week, Super Powerboy has received positive reviews from around the world and has won second place at Pocket Gamer’s The Very Big Indie Pitch at PGC London 2016. Pocket Gamer was blown away by the game’s stunning art, describing it as: “If Pixar made a Mega Man game it would probably look like Super Powerboy.”

“For our first game, we were keen to create something original, a character driven IP that would be creatively innovative with mass appeal,” says creators, Pixel Blast.

“The game has been designed from the ground up for touch devices and it really pushes this input mechanism in terms of accessibility and complexity. We really tried hard to make the controls feel right, always giving the player the feeling of being in control.”

ADAM-BODFISH.jpgSays Bodfish (right), “When my good friend, Jonny Severn (Creative Director and Founder of Pixel Blast) contacted me about getting involved, I couldn’t resist. I’ve always been fascinated with the gaming world and the storytelling that comes with it. There are similar challenges to the ones found within our ‘advertising’ four walls, and it was intriguing and somewhat refreshing to see how these were faced within a different industry.”

Super Powerboy is a game to get excited about; with 45 handcrafted missions set across 5 distinct locations, the game takes mobile gaming to the next level. And with such beautifully crafted characters and environments, it’s clear why the game has been compared to the likes of Disney and Pixar.

Super Powerboy is available now. And you can buy it on the App Store here.
