Amanda Blue.jpgPlaza has announced the signing of Amanda Blue, the British/Australian director whose feature documentary “Deep Water” debuts on SBS Sunday night at 8:30pm. Blue – aka Bluey – has been working in the UK for the past ten years, initially on feature documentaries and more recently on TV commercials and content, with award-winning work for Dove, Fairy, and others. So far, Blue has picked up a Bronze Lion, a Kinsale Shark, as well as LIA and NY Festival awards to go with her BAFTA nomination for her documentary on former British deputy PM, John Prescott; “Prescott: The Class System and Me”.

Says Peter Masterton, EP, Plaza: “Amanda and I met earlier this year whilst she was first back in Sydney working on “Deep Water” – we talked about her TVC and Content plans and it immediately became obvious we should work together. Her beautifully shot films – whether her documentaries or her advertising based content –  tell human stories in a way that is absorbing, moving and real. She brings a unique talent to the local industry.”

Says Blue: “I’m thrilled to team up with Pete and Paul at Plaza – I have really enjoyed developing my skills in commercials in London, and now that I am relocating back to Sydney I am looking forward to doing the same here. There’s some really inspiring work coming out of Australia and New Zealand at the moment and I can’t wait to get started.”
