BMF leads the agency pack at the shortlist stage of the 2016 APG Strategy Awards with six finalists

artwork-banner-web.jpgThe Account Planning Group (APG) has today announced the shortlist for the 2016 APG Strategy Awards, with 23 entries progressing to round 2 judging to be held on 14 November in Sydney.

BMF leads the way with six finalists, followed by M&C Saatchi Sydney with three and BWM Dentsu, J. Walter Thompson Sydney, Saatchi & Saatchi, The Royals and UM all with two finalist spots.

Finalists will now be assessed on their ability to demonstrate, through a final presentation, how planning had a significant influence in terms of solving the client challenge. The best in show Grand Prix, along with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards and a number of special prizes, will be awarded on Thursday 1 December at a dedicated ceremony at Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel in Sydney.

Tony Hale, CEO of The Communications Council sees the APG Strategy Awards as a key part of the industry’s move to raise the profile and impact of planning.

Says Hale: “The APG Awards  reminds us of the powerful role strategic thinking plays  in identifying and solving business challenges. It is especially pleasing to see shortlisted entries in the new categories of business planning, connections planning and responsive planning.We wish the finalists the best of luck and look forward to celebrating on 1 December.”

Stage 1 was judged by more than 25 planning and strategy directors from creative, media and PR agencies.

The APG is chaired by Angela Morris, executive planning director Australia, J. Walter Thompson, with vice chair Sophie Price, chief strategy officer, UM. The 2016 program of events has included a series of speaker presentations on UX & Planning, Showcases of highlights from SxSW and Cannes, the annual Battle of Big Thinking and inaugural effectiveness masterclasses in Sydney and Melbourne with internationally renowned author Peter Field.
