A well-known and highly respected operator with more than 17 years experience working in Europe and Australia, McSwiney was most recently managing partner at DDB Sydney, where she headed up the Westpac business.

Her broad and impressive career includes a long stretch at M&C Saatchi, where she led the Commonwealth Bank business.

She has also worked at Leo Burnett Dublin, Grey Sydney and was client services director at Wunderman Sydney. McSwiney takes the reins as MD following strong new business and organic growth by the agency.

McSwiney will work alongside digital creative director Ryan Chao (above, right) to develop strategies to help solve the issues that today’s connected world presents.  She will also further drive growth and ensure GHO’s capabilities continue to be underpinned by a commitment to curiosity and agility.

Says Peter Hosking, director, GHO: “Eithne has vast experience working in roles incorporating digital, creative, strategy and other key capabilities, particularly during her time on the Commonwealth Bank account. GHO’s approach focuses on the intersection of technology and creative ideas, so we are excited to have someone of her caliber on board. This teamed with her strong business acumen made her the perfect fit for our agency.”

McSwiney said she was “absolutely thrilled ” to be asked to join GHO.

Continues McSwiney: “The first thing that struck me when I met Ryan and the rest of the management team was just how grounded they were. They have a very clear sense of who they are, what they do best and where they fit in. And they have honed their offering over a 16-year history. To still have their foundation client, CommBank after all these years is testimony to the great job they do for their clients. Collaboration, respect for the individual and a focus on creative ideas that leverage technology are all things I champion so the fit was immediate. Going forward my role is to continue to nurture and grow that culture. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
