Sydney Dogs & Cats Home launches new Christmas campaign via J. Walter Thompson

As part of its ongoing pro bono relationship with Sydney Dogs & Cats Home, J. Walter Thompson Sydney has launched an outdoor campaign encouraging people to give a rescue pet a home this Christmas.

Says Claire Garth, general manager, Sydney Dogs & Cats Home: “We are the only pet shelter in Sydney to never place a time limit on the animals in our care. To remain viable, we rely on the generosity of the community to ensure we can continue finding new homes for thousands of abandoned pets every year.”

The work taps into the pre-Christmas mindset when people are pre-occupied with shopping.

Says Garth: “At Christmas time, when people are all wrapped up in the spirit of giving, we wanted to remind them that giving a rescue pet a home is the greatest gift of all, and for those unable to adopt, donating to our cause helps us to continue giving second chances to every animal in need.”

This campaign builds on J. Walter Thompson’s previous work for SD&CH, including the hugely successful #AlmostHomeless campaign which helped generate the 10,000 signatures needed to lobby the NSW Government to find a new home for the shelter.  As well as the ongoing #FollowAStray Instagram campaign which aims to turn Travis Barker the Stray into a celebrity who can raise funds for the shelter through advertising.
