Taubmans uses snow globes to get people painting in new print campaign via Naked
Taubmans and Naked have launched a print campaign to inspire people to make the most of their festive free time by painting the exterior of their home.
The campaign focuses on Taubmans Endure Exterior, a premium paint designed for maximum protection against all weather conditions. The creative dramatises the effectiveness of Taubmans paint by showing a range of different regional-style Australian homes, each encased in a snow globe.
Says Fiona King, senior brand manager at Taubmans: “Our customers can sometimes struggle to find the time to paint, but with the great weather and time off, the holidays are an excellent time to finally get around to it. Taubmans Endure is the perfect choice because it has Nanoguard Technology, which provides maximum all weather protection. We felt this idea brought this to life in a fantastically simple way.”
Says Jon Burden, ECD, Naked: “Leading up to the holidays many brands are shouting for people’s attention, especially in print format. We wanted to stand out from the Christmas crowd by creating something simple and pure. I believe the mark of a good product ad is being able to explain the product benefit without explanation or a list of claims, and this concept does just that.”
The campaign is running across national magazines and press.

See clients – keep it simple. Lovely.
After the initial “nice enough idea but…” can see this one getting ugly on here.
Nice simple idea. Good one, Naked.
How are these communicating that you should paint your house during the Christmas break?
I think the last time in snowed in Sydney was 27 June 1836.
Classic torture test, seen a million times before, but now with an idea. V decent!
At first I hated it b/cause snow globe = done heaps, but then I got it so ok not bad.
it’s been done thousands of times.
Must be a good client
Nice work, lovely print!
Naked once decried anyone who dared make a print ad, or even a 30sec TV spot for that matter. Old media was dead and buried, they proclaimed. I guess the company has gone through many changes since then, and so has their choice of media.
Kinda ok ads though.
Nicely executed Limehouse!
Is it for painters? No.
DIY enthusiasts? No.
Just in time for award shows? Yes.
Nice one Chris!
Seen the dome before, yes, but nice to see the weather on the outside. Simple and sweet. Can’t see why anyone thinks its a festive message. Good to see nice print, not a lot of it to be proud of these days.
1. It’s not a campaign if it’s just the same thing, three times.
2. Would be very interested to know where this ran.
It’s a Northern Hemisphere idea designed to win awards in the Northern Hemisphere.
And it is an idea, a single execution, not a campaign.
Changing colour does not a campaign make.
Ok I guess, a tad AWARD school.
Weather protection in this country is usually more about baking sun.
And if it is meant to be a Seasonally themed idea to get people motivated to paint now it should say so (not infer by a very vague, tenuous association).
It’s lovely work.
Shame fuck-all Aussies actually live where it snows…
Funny that Yeah, nah. I swear I did see this as an award school entry.
Hope the young lad who worked on it sees this and posts it here. Naked should give him a job. Or at least a cut!
I know global warming has us all fucked, but since when has it snowed at Christmas in Australia?
Don’t be so literal. You guys would make great terrible clients. Thank goodness such decisions don’t lie with you.
It’s a pity the baking Australian summer sun doesn’t fall in flakes. Then you might have a campaign.
I saw these 3 in consecutive pages in, I think, the daily telegraph a couple of weeks back. And only slightly bigger than a small space ad….slightly.
Smells of the DDB Manly Daily scamscapade a few years back.
I was all like ‘yeah that’s nice!’ but then I read the comments and was like ‘you’re right, it doesn’t snow in Australia in summer’ so now I don’t know what to think.
How literal am I meant to take this ad??? Should I paint my house now? Or wait until it snows? Won’t it be too late to paint my house if it’s already snowing?
If anyone knows a good websites where I can find out the answer to this conundrum it would be mucho appreciated. I tried Yahoo Answers once and learnt all about the lizards that rule us, man that was eye opening, however I don’t know if their knowledge of seasonal based exterior paints is ‘all that’. Anyway, make sure you purify your water otherwise the fluoride will make you a capitalist slave.
This was an idea within award school for 2015
Hey “Nice one”, the reason why people are considering it as a “festive message” is because it is a stated intention of the campaign in the first paragraph of the PR statement.
And I guess there is somewhat of an association with decorative snow domes and Christmas, apart from the fact each example here has a Christmas themed element inside the dome.
So maybe a little more attention to detail might help.
@nah, yeah – it was an Award School idea in 2015 and Naked did give him a job.
