SXSW_2017_Primary_Black.jpgEvery year in the month before SXSW, the festival organises meet-ups in different cities for those who have registered as delegates (about 750 this year–65% Interactive, 30% Music and 5% Film) as well as members of the 45 bands who are showcasing.  SXSW get a lot of veterans sharing their tips, techniques, secrets, Austin faves and more intel with the first timers to SXSW as well as those deciding to go or hoping to in 2018.

The first SXSW Meet-Up is in Melbourne on Friday, February 10 between 6pm and 9pm at the garden area of Beer Deluxe (Federation Square) as the wrap-up event of Pausefest in which SXSW’s interactive head Hugh Forrest is presenting. You do not need to be a Pausefest delegate to join in for nibbles and drinks, just rock up to the door and let the meet-up team know you are a SXSW registrant. No need to RSVP.

The Sydney SXSW Meet-Up is Monday 13 February 5:30pm – 8:30pm at WeWork Pyrmont, 100 Harris St., organised by Adrianne Nixon. There is a $10 entry to offset the venue charge but includes free beer, cider and nibbles and can be booked via Eventbrite here or through adrianne@legendsandleaders.com.au, 0403137466.

The Brisbane meet-up is Monday 13 February, 5.30pm – 6.30pm at The Hoo Ha Bar, Tribune Street, South Brisbane organised by four time SXSW vet Sue Swinburne (s.swinburne@griffith.edu.au).

There is also one in Auckland on February 23 at 7pm at The Golden Crown in Ponsonby being organised by Paul Pritchard (pmpritchardnz@gmail.com)
