OMD was able to support Favona Primary School, by providing an army of media specialists to complete a series of tasks in one day that would have taken the school 6 months to complete. The list of jobs included gardening, painting, sanding, shifting furniture and teaming up to be the opposition for lunchtime basketball.

Says Chrissy Payne, client service director: “The highlight of the day was the smiling faces from the students when we managed to shift 2,000 wheelbarrows worth of bark into their new, untouched playground which alone, saved the school $2,500 in labour, it was really heart-warming.”

Do Good Day gives OMD and its staff the opportunity to give back to the community by supporting schools that have limited funding and resource for upkeep and maintenance. Aside from providing resource to the community, it gave the staff the chance to work together using a totally different set of skills.

Says Diane Wiechern, principal of Favona Primary School: “We are still buzzing and glowing from more than the sunburn today, our whole Favona whanau feels very blessed and proud of the lovely, revamped environment, and also of the great time enjoyed yesterday. As I said, you achieved so much more than just improving our property. Lives were touched, and our school values were outworked in your actions.”

Clients, including Heinz Watties, Frucor, Dulux, Selleys and Stihl Shop also got involved with Do Good Day by supplying OMD with product to help on the day.
