MADC Presents Ted Horton: Does our self-obsession threaten our existence?
On Wednesday June 28 at the Local Taphouse Ted Horton, founder, Big Red, will give a very timely point of view on the role of award shows like Cannes and what he believes will help our industry survive – or kill it.
While newcomers to the industry may only know him as the brains behind the big red ‘down down’ hand, Horton is an undeniable industry heavyweight with an illustrious and award-winning career.
Where: The Local Taphouse St Kilda
When: Wednesday 28 June, 6.30pm
Guaranteed to be thought-provoking and for some, intentionally polarising, this MADC Presents is not to missed.
Despite having not entered an award show since 1991, Horton has won more metal than most, in years past creating the work most aspire to. His name is littered throughout annuals, with his work recognised globally at Cannes and the like, and he spent a decade in the top of CB’s rankings.
During his career he has worked with some of the biggest clients (even a Prime Minister) across some the biggest agencies, and today his own agency Big Red is one of the largest independent agencies in the country.
This ‘one man industry’ continually differentiates himself from the rest of the agency pack.
Tickets will sell out, get in early.

‘I won’t enter award shows, they’re self-congratulatory and pointless…by the way I’ve won LOADS, which proves I’m credible and you should definitely come watch me talk.’
@ “Contradiction much?” This press release was written by the MADC (not Ted) with the intention of giving newcomers to the industry who may not know Ted’s history, full context of who they are coming to see. We thought it was a pretty interesting point to make! PS. You should definitely come and watch him talk.
