MOP joins fight against species extinction with newly launched online film for Wildlife Victoria

Wildlife Victoria image.jpgWhen more species can now be lost in a single week than in the whole of human history, independent advertising agency Magnum Opus Partners (MOP)  thought it was time people were alerted again to the scale of the problem. Currently up to a quarter of mammal species, an eighth of bird species and a third of plant species face extinction, and according to authorities species are disappearing from the planet at a rate of more than 70,000 a year.

The agency pro-actively contacted Wildlife Victoria and offered their support, by way of an animated video showing the extent and immediacy of the problem. The video will be circulated on social media and via email to supporters.

Says Pat Langton, creative director, MOP: “People need to be constantly reminded that there are things we can do, right here in Victoria, and around the country, to make a real difference. The vast majority of species losses are due to reckless human endangerment of habitat and climate change. But we can all seek to preserve the land in a way that supports fauna and flora. We can all do our bit to combat climate change. World Environment Day is the perfect opportunity to remind people that this is the responsibility of all us.”

The spot ends with an opportunity for people to donate to support the work of Wildlife Victoria, which specialises in the care and rescue of Victoria’s wildlife, while advocating for the protection of species and better education about wildlife, including in the school system.
