Hosted in its Sydney head office based in Lane Cove and conducted by Panavision’s technical marketing executive Andrew Collier, senior lens tech Grant Hansford and national TVC marketing manager Nic Godoy, the training focused on examining the creative differences with filming technologies currently in use within the Commercial Television advertising industry. Attending on the day were the 2017 ADG Commercial & Content Directing Mentorship NSW recipients Kate Halpin, Laura Kurataya, Lou Quill and Sinead McDevitt.

Says Godoy: “This is the first time we have conducted training specifically suited for directors and creatives. Our goal is to not only provide the technical tools and service for cinematographers but also become a point of reference for directors and producers. As a key player in the Australian Film industry, we believe in sharing our experiences and knowledge which can one day assist future generations of filmmakers.”

Says Kingston Anderson, CEO, Australian Directors’ Guild: “For directors, the chance to sit down, ask lots of questions and learn about the best technologies to bring their vision to life is invaluable. Panavision’s support of emerging filmmakers in this equips them with knowledge, skills and confidence that they will be able to use to establish long and varied careers as professional directors.”
