Spikes Asia announces jury presidents including OTTO’s Jo de Fina, IPG Mediabrands’ Danny Bass + Y&R’s Josh Moore representing Australia + NZ

The 14 jury presidents will evaluate the work AAEAAQAAAAAAAAYsAAAAJGUxNGU4ZmFkLTgxODMtNDY4Ni1iMjAwLTIxN2JiNGVmYTU1OQ.jpgwhile the Festival takes place over the course of 3 days with the winners celebrated at the awards ceremony on 29 September in the Marina Bay Sands Theatre.

Creative Effectiveness – Jury President – Jean-Paul Burge, Chairman & CEO, BBDO Asia, APAC

Having begun his advertising career in London in 1998 Burge has since worked in London, Bangkok, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Singapore on various global account roles at JWT then BBDO. As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Burge ensures that BBDO consistently attracts the best people who develop and deliver the world’s most creative and compelling content to all BBDO clients across the region. BBDO is the most awarded network for creativity and for effectiveness in the Asia region.

Design – Jury President – Johnny Tan, Executive Creative Director, 72andSunny, Asia Pacific

Tan has created a bank of award-winning work in his career and is a pioneer of branded content in China, creating a feature documentary film for Johnnie Walker that was selected in 5 international film festivals. He has won accolades at numerous international award shows including a Cannes Lions Chimera and has been on various jury panels. Tan’s wealth of multi- disciplinary experience, as well as time spent in the US, China and other markets, has helped to bring a diverse fusion of flavours to his work.

Digital, Mobile and Digital Craft – Jury President – Yasuharu Sasaki, Executive Creative Director and Head of Digital Creative, Dentsu Inc., Japan

At Dentsu Tokyo, Sasaki leads on digital creative and innovation. His background is in computer science, bringing a curiosity that finds a way into his writing, digital experience design and coding. He has worked with clients such as Coca-Cola, Google, Glico, Kirin and UNIQLO. His list of awards include Cannes Lions, D&AD, The One Show, Spikes, AdFest and CLIOs, of which he’s also been a jury member.

Direct and Promo & Activation – Jury President – Mark Tutssel – Global Chief Creative Officer, Leo Burnett Worldwide and Creative Chairman, Publicis Communications, Global

As Global Chief Creative Officer of Leo Burnett Worldwide, Tutssel is responsible for setting the company’s creative vision and oversees the creative output for some of the world’s most respected brands. One of the most awarded creatives in the industry and named by Campaign Magazine as the ‘No. 1 Worldwide Creative Director’, Tutssel has won 579 Cannes Lions during his tenure as Global CCO, including eight Grand Prix, three Titanium Lions, four Glass Lions, the first ever D&AD White Pencil, two D&AD Black Pencils and two ADC Black Cubes.

Entertainment – Jury President – Jeremy Craigen, Global Chief Creative Officer, INNOCEAN Worldwide, Global

Starting his career at Ted Bates in 1984 and having joined BNP DDB Needham in 1990 Craigen was appointed Executive Creative Director of DDB in 2003. During his tenure, the agency was twice named The Most Awarded Agency in the World Accolade by the Gunn Report. Craiden’s distinguished career has seen him win many awards at Cannes Lions and other leading shows. Jeremy has served on virtually all major juries and has been Jury Chair of LIA, Clios, Young Guns and British TV Awards – in 2013 he was awarded The Chairman’s Award at British TV Awards for his outstanding contribution to film advertising.

Film, Print & Publishing, Print & Outdoor Craft and Integrated – Jury President – Kate Stanners, Chairwoman and Global Chief Creative Officer, Saatchi & Saatchi, Global

Stanners joined Saatchi & Saatchi London in 2005 as Executive Creative Director. Helping to create an agile, fluid and integrated agency she has produced numerous award-winning campaigns and was promoted to Global Chief Creative Officer in 2016, becoming Global Chairwoman in September later that year. She began her career working for the inspirational Dave Trott at his agency GGT, where he taught her how to plan and think before joining as one of the founding creatives of the revolutionary agency St Luke’s and then setting up her own fully integrated agency, Boy Meets Girl, in 2003 directly after having her son Otto.

Healthcare – Jury President – Amit Akali, Chief Creative Officer, Medulla Communications, India

Akali has 20 years’ experience across agencies including Ogilvy and Saatchi & Saatchi, and was formerly Creative Head, Grey India and member of Grey Global Creative Council. Akali has won three Grand Prix Campaign of the year Abby (Indian) awards, and over 500 national and international awards, including Cannes Lions, One Show, Spikes, Clios and D&AD. He believes that the future of advertising lies in integration, so he took his mainline experience to healthcare and digital, joining Medulla as CCO and founding its sister agency – What’s Your Problem – a digital focused, integrated agency. Within two years of his creative leadership, Medulla became the Cannes Lions Healthcare Agency of the year, 2016.

Film Craft – Jury President – Jo de Fina – Executive Producer & Founder, The OTTO Empire, Australia

After working her way up the ranks in a number of high-profile advertising production companies, producing for Oscar Nominated director Bennett Miller at Hungryman and joining David Droga as employee number 4 at Droga5, de Fina founded her own Production Company The OTTO Empire in 2009. de Fina’s passion lies in storytelling, the people, the idea, communicating that idea and the craft of filmmaking. She is inspired by the creativity in both the work, and the people she encounters each day, and is committed to creating opportunities for, and mentoring, new talent.

Innovation – Jury President- Bessie Lee, Founder & CEO, Withinlink, China

Lee is Founder and CEO of Withinlink, a China-based start-up incubator and early-stage venture fund focused on marketing technology to support China’s media communications industry. With more than 27 years of experience in media communications within Greater China, exclusively across a number of WPP companies, Lee draws upon an extensive network of thought leaders as well as a team of C-suite media and marketing executives, investment professionals and entrepreneurs, to offer experience in business management and networks to fund and mentor start-ups and to create winners.

Media – Jury President – Danny Bass, CEO, IPG Mediabrands Australia

Bass is among the Australian media communications industry’s most respected and high profile leaders. He is formerly Chief Investment and Intelligence Officer for GroupM Australia. Prior to that he was GroupM’s Chief Digital Officer and was previously National Sales Director for News Digital Media. He is passionate about the digital development of the media industry, having launched Australia’s first agency programmatic trading desk and participating on the Agency Advisory Board of the Interactive Advertising Bureau. Bass is also a Board Member of the Media Federation of Australia.

Mu
sic – Jury President – Kazoo Sato, Chief Creative Officer/Executive Creative Director, TBWA\Hakuhodo Japan

Sato started his professional career at Sony Music Entertainment as a music producer in 1997, later joining Leo Burnett Tokyo to lead creative works on various global brands. In 2009, he joined TBWA\Hakuhodo and after 4 years as ECD, he is now Chief Creative Officer of the Japan region. Since joining the agency, Sato has won numerous awards and accolades and has served on the jury for numerous international and domestic awards including Cannes Lions and One Show. He has also been essential for the agency’s seven year consecutive win as Campaign’s Creative Agency of the Year. He has moved beyond the boundaries of advertising and now also produces new musicians and artists.

Outdoor and Radio – Jury President – Josh Moore, Chief Creative Officer & CEO, Y&R ANZ, Australia and New Zealand

A successful 22-year career across the region gives Moore a unique ability to work insightfully on Australian, New Zealand and Global brands needing local nuance. Founding Us Sydney, now known as JOY Agency and having rapidly grown the business and then sold his interest in the agency, he has honed his abilities as a business leader and creative. In 2011 Moore took over the helm of the media and creative agency Y&R NZ, then ranked 17th in the NZ market which in 2016 was named No.1 in the World in the Gunn Report’s All Gunns Blazing.

PR – Jury President – Debby Cheung, President, Ogilvy Public Relations, China/Hong Kong

Cheung brings over twenty years of public relations experience, primarily with Ogilvy PR Hong Kong and China. Under her leadership, Ogilvy PR Shanghai was the first office in China to establish its own creative and social teams, which triggered fast growth and the adoption of an integrated agency model. Cheung was subsequently promoted to President of Ogilvy PR China/Hong Kong and in 2012 was also appointed as location head of the Ogilvy & Mather Group in Shanghai. She is a member of Ogilvy PR’s global executive board as well as a member of Ogilvy & Mather’s AP executive board.
