Clemenger BBDO, Sydney partners with the Art Gallery of NSW for Robert Mapplethorpe exhibit

The Perfect Medium (1).jpgToday the Art Gallery of New South Wales opens Robert Mapplethorpe: The Perfect Medium with the support of Clemenger BBDO Sydney, proud major partner of the exhibition.

The Mapplethorpe exhibition celebrates one of the most renowned photographers of the 20th century, an artist who understood the medium’s ability to alter perceptions and push boundaries.

Two Men Dancing 19845 (1).jpgThis comprehensive survey of Robert Mapplethorpe’s career features over 200 works, including floral still lifes, portraits and figure studies that chart his involvement in New York’s gay scene, as well as a selection of archival material providing insights into his working methods and life.

An icon who photographed other icons, Mapplethorpe captured and shaped an era with portraits that immortalised the cultural idols of the 1970s and 1980s, including lifelong museClems Private Viewing (1).jpg Patti Smith, fellow artists Cindy Sherman and Louise Bourgeois.

This is the second important exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW that Clemenger BBDO Sydney has supported. Last year the agency was a major sponsor of Adman: Warhol before pop.

The exhibition opens to the public today and runs until the 4th March 2018.
