MLA_Stills_Wendel (1).jpgMinister for Multiculturalism Ray Williams has tonight announced the winners of the 2017 Australian Multicultural Marketing Awards (AMMAs).

Some of the winners include The Monkeys for MLA ‘Celebrate Australia’ and KWP! for Surf Life Saving Australia ‘The Ocean’.

Williams said this year’s winners helped break down barriers to promote diversity on our screens and across society.

Says Williams: “With diversity being one of our State’s major assets, multicultural marketing is good for business, good for consumers, and good for our communities. All the winners and finalists demonstrated passion and commitment to exploring Australian identity in new, innovative and inclusive ways.”

In NSW, we come from 307 ancestries, practice 146 religions, and speak more than 215 languages.

Says Melissa King, CEO, Surf Life Saving Australia: “The beach is the perfect melting pot of Australian diversity. As the fabric of our country continues to become more and more diverse, it is important that the fabric of Surf Life Saving evolves too.”

Other winning campaigns include:

· an integrated marketing and engagement multicultural campaign for the 2016 Census;

· a tailored offshore and onshore campaign from Westpac to engage Chinese International Students.
