The Creative Relay - From L to R - Paul Dunne, Tara Ford, Cam Blackley (Halloween clown), Dan Higson.jpgFollowing the recent launch of The Creative Relay, an exciting industry-first podcast series by music and sound design leader Smith & Western, the fourth “Halloween Special” episode has just been released.

Breaking the traditional podcast mould, the series has taken a relay-based approach – the baton is passed from creative to creative in each episode, as one episode’s interviewee becomes the next episode’s interviewer.

In the latest episode that happened to fall on Halloween, DDB Sydney executive creative director Tara Ford interviews BMF’s Cam Blackley, the newly appointed chief creative officer at M&C Saatchi (effective Feb 2018). On the eve of his move to M&C Saatchi, Blackley reveals what it was like to grow up with a ‘Mad Man’ for a Dad (ad legend David Blackley), as well as an unexpected penchant for face paint.

Cam Blackley (Halloween clown).jpgSomething else no one was expecting was Blackley’s story about a ghost sighting at the old BMF building (teaser audio provided). While he may have been wearing clown make-up while telling it, he was dead serious. Behind the mask, Ford discovers a creative giant with a big heart.

Says Ford: “Well that was fun. Cam turned up for serious chat… in full clown make-up. Can you hear it in my voice?”

Episode four follows Permanent host, writer and creative director Paul Dunne kicking off The Creative Relay talking to Ant Keogh, and Ant then interviewing Jonathan Kneebone. Rounding out the launch trilogy, Kneebone sat down with Ford.

The Creative Relay series is the brainchild of creators and producers Dan Higson and Nick West from Smith & Western.
