Enigma Newcastle appoints copywriter Callan McKean; promotes Dan Stephens to AD role

Writer Callan McKean (left) has joined the Newcastle office from Ogilvy Sydney, where he worked across some of its most iconic clients. His previous major role includes more than three years at The Monkeys working on accounts such as Blackmores, IKEA and Telstra. He was also one of only 50 students accepted into the Australia/New Zealand D&AD Young Bloods initiative in 2015. Up against a number of teams, their idea ended up winning the competition.

Says McKean: “When I heard Pete was heading up the creative department at Enigma, I knew good things were going to happen. Partnered with the fact that Newcastle is (objectively) the best place in the world, it was an easy decision to join the team.”

Art director Dan Stephens (above right) has progressed steadily through the design studio at Enigma to the new role of art director. He brings to this role a wealth of design knowledge and a healthy perspective on ideas.

Says Stephens: “Taking on the new position was a no brainer, Newcastle is an exciting place to be right now and the creative opportunities are endless. I’m excited to step up and rip in.”

Says Pete Ogden, ECD, Enigma: “The lure of Newcastle’s many delights is obviously too much for some people, Callan too it seems. It’s great to see our creative department grow and, in Dan, be able to recognize and promote talent from within. We are now fully crewed for whatever the year can throw at us.”
