Starring Shirley Affleck – a 92-year-old grandmother from Perth – the film is a heart-warming and personal story of love, life and the lessons learned along the way.

Ginsburg planned to shoot new material for the documentary over the summer holidays, but when he discovered a box of old Super 8 reels in Affleck’s garage that she herself shot back in the 50s and 60s, the concept for the film evolved.

Says Ginsburg: “It was such an amazing find – I was trawling through hours of home-movie footage, all shot on film, and it was like a nostalgic time-capsule of the Australian way of life back then.”

Says James Carr (above right), producer: “As such an iconic Australian film festival, we’re really excited to be in Tropfest this year – it’s a great way to kick off 2018! In addition to the short film and our commercial work, this year we’re developing a raft of other creative film projects, across both documentary and narrative formats.”

‘The Life I’ve Seen’ premieres at Tropfest on Saturday 17th of February at Parramatta Park Sydney from 7:30pm, or check out the live TV broadcast on the ABC or the YouTube stream.
