Screen Shot 2018-03-22 at 12.57.39 pm.jpgLast night, Goose Island via The Taboo Group successfully hosted a world-first Facebook live auction, selling off its last 12 bottles of Bourbon County Stout in Australia.

Bringing the beer community together, the innovative and unconventional auction saw eager beer enthusiasts bid from all ends of Australia with over $2,128 raised to Pink Boots Society, an organisation empowering women in the brewing industry.

Goose Island Live Feed Auction (1).jpgHosted at Melbourne’s Beermash and through Goose Island’s Facebook page, the hour long auction saw hundreds of bids fly in with winning bids starting from upwards of $100. A reserve price for each bottle was set at $20, however the bidding moved quickly over each 60 second individual auction with an average sale price of $151.25 per bottle and the highest bid of the night coming in at $240 on the final bottle.

With bids and banter coming in at a furious pace, the enthusiasm of the crowd saw hosts cut down a Goose Island roundel sign off the wall and put up for auction as per requests, fetching $301 from a die-hard fan.

Tif Waldron, board member at Pink Boots Society, said the live auction surpassed her expectations.

Says Waldron: “We had a great time last night and it was great to see everyone get on board for a good cause. Pink Boots Society is absolutely thrilled with the generous donations by bidders all across the country.

“We’d love to give a huge thanks to the Goose Island team and everyone who tuned into and participated in the auction. The money will help fund scholarships provided by the organisation.”
