Russ.jpgEssence, a global data and measurement-driven agency and part of GroupM, has appointed Russ Mitchinson who joins the agency as head of strategy, Australia and New Zealand.

Mitchinson has held various roles within media and creative agencies, most recently at OMD where he was head of strategy working across the key brands of Village Roadshow and McDonald’s. Prior to his time at OMD, Mitchinson was at Leo Burnett and DDB.

Says Mitchinson: “It is a truly exciting time to be joining Essence as the agency reaches an inflection point. It is in Essence’s DNA to deliver premium digital and performance-based media, and increasingly the business is bringing that thinking to the full gamut of channels as it expands into innovative content spaces.”

Says Jovy Gill, managing director for Essence Australia and New Zealand: “We are thrilled to welcome Russ to Essence. He brings vast experience in communications strategy crossing both creative and media and offers a wealth of strategic know-how. He will be invaluable as we strive for growth in the region.”

The appointment follows James Luty who joined the team last month in the role of client partner for Google.
