Ireland, who has been freelancing with the agency for the past six months, has previously held roles at Designworks in New Zealand and Melbourne as well as Moon Communications in Sydney.

Says Simon Wright, executive creative director: “We’ve gotten to know Pip as a freelancer and she has demonstrated fantastic capability. And now we’ve convinced her to come on board in a full-time capacity. We’re really lucky to have her leading the design team in Melbourne.”

Says Ireland: “With a passionate and motivated team that values culture and imagination, Principals is creating some of the best strategic and creative work in Australia. It’s great to be part of an agency that is working with big brands and recognised leaders as well as brands that are purpose driven/social change organisations.”

Ireland’s appointment coincides with two promotions across the wider agency with Andrew Thompson stepping up to the role of design director while James Welch has moved into the role of creative director. The promotions follow two new additions to the agency with Jarrod Porter and Alex Nirenovic joining in the roles of digital designer and web developer respectively.

Says Tom Brigstocke, CEO of Principals: “This is great news – some terrific hires in Melbourne and design team promotions in both Sydney and Melbourne. It’s all welcome growth to the group on the back of recent new business wins.”
