CB5 (1).jpgThe Refinery Post Production is thrilled to welcome legendary VFX artist Chris Betteridge (aka “Cb”) to the fold. Betteridge brings with him a wealth of knowledge and skill with over twenty-five years experience in visual effects, compositing, and shoot supervision.

Starting out in GTV9s video department back in the late 80s, Betteridge has put many a commercial to air over the intervening years, spending long days (and the occasional all-nighter) deepening his online and VFX knowledge at companies AAV, Digital Pictures, Iloura, Deluxe, and most recently Method Studios.

Says Betteridge: “I’m excited to be joining the team at The Refinery as it enters a new creative phase. I’ve known Eugene, Freya and Kate since the Iloura days and I’m thrilled to be working alongside them again, as well as the talented Drew Downes in Sydney who brings such a strong design eye to the team. It’s good to be back in the saddle with such a passionate group of artists.”

Says Eugene Richards, founder, The Refiney: “Chris was an obvious fit for us here at The Refinery. He is accomplished at leading 2D and 3D teams, having worked for many years on large-scale VFX and CGI projects at Iloura and then Method Studios, and complements our existing VFX team perfectly.”

Says Drew Downes, founder, The Refinery: “We are building a small but powerful team of artists to deliver high-end 2D and 3D projects, enhancing our current offerings in Sydney and Melbourne. Having Chris on board will also allow our artists to be more involved on projects throughout the pipeline; flexible enough to be on set, and consulting with directors and creatives throughout from as early as script stage and pre-vis, through to editorial, VFX, and final delivery.”

Senior producer Freya Maddock is as equally thrilled to welcome Betteridge.

Says Maddock: “Cb’s work is world class in its creativity and technical execution.  A familiar face to most of our Melbourne clients, his invaluable problem solving skills, devotion to detail, and relaxed demeanor make him perfectly suited to sitting behind the big desk here at The Refinery. Just don’t ask him to wear shoes!”

Betteridge will be based in the Refinery’s Melbourne studio and available for both Sydney and Melbourne work.
