Cherie Davies’ Cannes Diary #2

Ironic that I was actually called on Jury Duty and meant to be serving this very week on a 6 week case. This jury duty is considerably more palatable. But it did make me wonder if the Cannes jury room would at all resemble the film 12 Angry Men. I feel like in parts it could, but at this stage all jury members seem to be pretty agreeable, we’ll see over the coming days if that changes. The jury is still out, so to speak.

John, our Health Jury President, handed out some temporary tattoos – words to mark as a small reminder as to what to look for over the coming days: well-crafted, unique, remarkable, high impact. The truely exceptional work should encompass all this and more.Screen Shot 2018-06-14 at 7.13.31 am.jpg

Adorned with our new tattoos, it was then into a day of culling. We saw good work, really great work and a few exceptional pieces. A mix of high tech and also simple, culturally relevant initiatives that I had expected to see after the success of ideas like Immunity Bracelet last year.

It’s been a long day and I’m tired, but incredibly inspired. I’m looking forward to tomorrow when culling will be completed and potential shortlisted entries will be selected for further discussion over the following two days.
