Athletes Mark Schwarzer + Rob Whittaker star in Unibet’s ‘Wanna Bet’ campaign via Ninth Wave

Screen Shot 2018-08-17 at 8.36.12 am.jpgUnibet has launched its latest campaign via Ninth Wave, featuring everyday Australians making casual or humorous bets with family, friends or work colleagues.

The 30 second TVCs lead with the Socceroo’s most capped player and goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, who is watching a game of soccer on his mobile…on a bus. He is challenged by an old lady hovering next to him, on the outcome of a penalty. In the second execution, champion Australian UFC fighter, Rob Whittaker, threatens to annihilate his opponent…(with whom he is playing a video game!). The ads were shot both here in Australia and in Las Vegas where Rob is ‘coaching’ the next generation of champions on UFC’s Ultimate Fighter program.

Screen Shot 2018-08-17 at 8.36.20 am.jpgAside from Mark Schwarzer and Rob Whittaker, the ads include bets on the sex of a child when having a scan and a couple of guys’ chances of getting into a nightclub.

This new campaign, which has been created through the collective effort of Unibet, Ninth Wave and P2 Content Agency, includes two 30 second TVCs along with additional tactical and digital and social versions.

Says Julian Timmins, head of marketing and operations, Unibet: “The campaign aims to illustrate how betting plays a role in everyday Australian life. It is almost subconscious and usually with a great sense of fun. The Aussie public ‘bet’ on everyday events with friends and family all the time, it is inherent in our culture.”

Says Harrison Woodhead, director for the shoot: “A typical Aussie punter will bet on a couple of blow flies walking across a bar table – it’s just good sport. This campaign taps into that insight, highlighting the fun that punters get out of turning everyday happenings into something far more interesting!”
