Craig Davis (right), co-founder and previous CMO, will step into a new role at Sendle, remaining a close advisor and evangelist of the business as Ross takes the marketing reins.

Davis, who is best known in adland as the former global CCO of JWT, will now apply the same purpose and values that have shaped Sendle to help the wider startup and business community. He will advise business leaders, founders and entrepreneurs  and teach a leadership program developed at Google.

Ross joins Sendle following six years at Airbnb, having most recently headed up its Asia Pacific marketing operations and strategy. She brings with her a wealth of experience marrying business and creative to navigate startups through periods of rapid growth and scale.

In her role as CMO, Ross will guide Sendle as it enters hyper-growth, ensuring that its core values unwaveringly reflect in its offerings, working in line with Sendle’s mission to champion choice for businesses at the smaller end of town and facilitating growth of homegrown e-commerce — which has now neared $200 million through Sendle.

Says Ross: “Sendle’s unique business model has brought integrity and humanity to the parcel industry. Its fast expansion in Australia is proof that it ‘gets’ what small business owners need to thrive. Growing a community of micro-entrepreneurs at Airbnb equipped me with an understanding of the challenges small businesses face and the support they need to carry out industry changing work.

“Seeing what Craig and the team have achieved in three short years made my decision to join Sendle a very easy one. We are about to enter a period of unprecedented growth and I can’t wait to champion small business, a community that bustles with creativity and where the best ideas win.”

Davis has played a pivotal role in the company he co-founded three years ago, achieving a string of  accolades for Sendle including taking on Australia Post in a landmark IP court case to challenge the monopoly, rolling out simple, reliable and affordable international delivery options with DHL, engaging in a string of high profile partnerships including Etsy, eBay and Neto, and most recently launching Sendle’s first brand campaign: “Why Post when you can Sendle?

Says Davis: “Sendle has achieved tremendous success in its first few years and all the building blocks are there for accelerated growth. It fills me with great pride that talented people like Eva want to join and make an impact above and beyond what we’ve built. With her creativity, experience and passion for the startup community, I am confident Eva will be instrumental in taking Sendle to new heights.”

James Chin Moody, CEO and co-founder, Sendle, says hiring Ross places Sendle’s marketing in expert hands as the company continues to expand its national and international services.

Says Moody: “Craig and I co-founded the business three short years ago with a big idea. He remains a key part of our team and we support his decision to build a stronger, healthier business community for Australia as a whole.

“Eva’s entrepreneurial spirit, expertise in navigating startups through fast growth periods, and her deep knowledge of domestic and international markets will be invaluable as we continue to expand Sendle in Australia and overseas.”

Ross is the latest big name talent to join the team, most recently following Apurva Chiranewala, head of growth and former head of shipping at eBay Australia, and Helen Souness, on Sendle’s board of directors and former managing director of Etsy Australia.
