DFAT appoints J. Walter Thompson, Sydney as new lead brand agency on Smartraveller
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has appointed J. Walter Thompson Sydney to lead and develop a new brand strategy for Smartraveller, the Department’s travel advisory and consular assistance service.
Says Paul Everson, managing director, J. Walter Thompson Sydney: “We are thrilled to be leading the new brand strategy for Smartraveller and supporting the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s commitment to encouraging safe travel by Australians overseas.”
DFAT chose to work with J. Walter Thompson as a best-in class strategic partner to develop the new brand strategy for Smartraveller. This was based on the agency’s approach to brand strategy, its rigorous process, and clearly understanding the importance of brands in today’s world.
Work will commence immediately.

This is the DFAT third agency in 4 years! How many agencies do you really need? This is exactly what’s wrong with this industry nowadays. Tyre-kicking clients who drop and change agencies like used underwear and then complain that their campaign strategies don’t work. The Federal Government: The worst culprit. These are our taxes being spent unnecessarily!
