Based predominantly in the Sydney office, Davros and Taxi have made it official after working together for the past six months on productions for Heineken, Harris Coffee and Flight Centre.

Davros’ background is graphic design, film, motion graphics and post production. All of these ingredients come together in his commercial filmmaking – his sense of design, his eye for detail and his flair for composition – to create a unique visual style.

Says Davros: “I used to focus on ‘pushing pixels’, on making images that looked pretty with my background in motion graphics. Now, I concentrate on telling interesting stories in a highly visual way. I love how commercial directing uses emotion and visual cues to hit a psychological bull’s-eye.”

Davros is also drawn to the collaborative nature of making commercials: “That exposure to creative minds is a thrill. It’s inspiring. And I love being part of the power of advertising to distill an idea to the core, then package and communicate it in a way that makes an impression on people.”

What excites him most about being signed to Taxi is its approach to the future of advertising, “to be joining a genuinely lovely and amazing group of people doing really exciting and proactive work.”

Adds Davros: “I’m looking forward to becoming part of Taxi’s approach to engaging with the future of the industry and shaping what we need to do to build visual responses in a new and exciting way. To move beyond the accepted model of advertising and push the possibilities that are becoming visible, by putting creativity first and using all the skills I have to get the best response for every brief.”

Says Andrew Wareham, executive producer, Taxi Film Production: “We’re excited to welcome Davros to the Taxi family. He’s a highly diverse director with a strong visual style and has a huge breadth of skills bedded in post production and visual effects. Plus he’s a genuinely great guy and is the right fit for our clients and culture.”
