Matteo Antony.jpgSonar Music composers Matteo Zingales (right), Antony Partos (far left) and newcomer Jackson Milas have all enjoyed success at this year’s APRA AMCOS Screen Music Awards.

Matteo Zingales was a double winner on the night. His first award was for the television series Harrow, in the category of Best Television Theme, and the second was for his collaboration with fellow screen composer Antony Partos; which saw the duo collect the award for Best Music for a Mini-Series or Telemovie for the acclaimed ABC television series Mystery Road.

Jackson Milas.jpgFirst time nominee Jackson Milas (right) was also awarded Best Music for an Advertisement for his Forty Winks campaign, ‘Serious About Sleep‘, a collaboration between agency AJF Melbourne and production company Resolution Design.

Says Sophie Haydon, executive producer, Sonar: “It’s been a wonderful year for the Sonar team. Matteo, Antony and Jackson live and breathe the projects they work on so to have their endless hours of love and labour recognised is a hugely rewarding way to end another great year.

“We are so thrilled to have signed Jackson Milas to the Sonar roster, this award speaks to his enormous talent and we couldn’t be more excited to have him join our team.”

Sonar’s final long-form release for 2018 is the highly anticipated Stan series Bloom, which airs on Boxing Day. Scored by Partos and Milas, the six-part supernatural drama centres on life in an idyllic country town a year after a devastating flood kills five locals. It stars Jacki Weaver, Bryan Brown and Phoebe Tonkin.

Staged jointly by APRA AMCOS and the AGSC (Australian Guild of Screen Composers) the Screen Music Awards night was held recently at the City Recital Hall Sydney and paid tribute to screen composers across 12 categories who impressed judges with their work across TV, online, film and advertising.
