Advertising Capstone Challenge launches

Outlook-xm15ck2d.pngThe Advertising Capstone programs of Swinburne University of Technology, UQ Business School and Western Sydney University have launched Advertising Capstone Challenge Australia (ACCA).

With branding and logo design by Swinburne advertising student Daniel Vesel, the rebranded Advertising Capstone Challenge builds on the successful program initiated in 2016 by Swinburne Advertising Lecturer David Reid, and UQ Business School’s Dr Nicole Hartley.

The approach:

  • A leading Advertising Agency provides a ‘live’ client brief to capstone undergraduate students.
  • The Agency and Client Executives brief students on campus
  • Students form ‘virtual student agencies’ taking on professional advertising roles
  • The Advertising Agency remains in ‘virtual’ contact with students via Q&A
  • Students compete against each other synchronously through the Semester
  • Top student teams present their final advertising campaign solutions to an executive panel at the end of the Semester
  • The entire winning student team secures coveted advertising agency internships.
  • Thus far the authentic industry engagement initiative has been supported by M&C Saatchi with Cricket Australia in 2016, Leo Burnett with 7-Eleven in 2017, and AJF Partnership with Lion Dairy & Beverages in 2018.

The Agency and Client for 2019 is to be confirmed, but it is sure to be authentic – with a demanding ‘live brief’ – a fantastic challenge for a future generation of advertising executives.

Advertising Capstone Challenge Australia will run from August to October 2019.
