Animation studio Jumbla designs trailer for Mac Game of the Year ‘The Gardens Between’

the-gardens-between-169-1.jpgApple has just announced its list of global awards for the best of 2018. Its Mac Game Of The Year award went to the Australian-developed “The Gardens Between”, created in Melbourne by The Voxel Agents (TVA).

The launch-day trailer was created by South Melbourne-based Jumbla Studios.

Jumbla was given the finished product and briefed to use only visuals from the game itself to give the target audience an understanding of the gameplay and entice them to purchase.

the-gardens-between-169-2.jpgThis involved Jumbla animator Josh Le Good having to play the game for hours (tough) in order to record a compilation of sequences that would ultimately be edited down to scenes for the trailer.

Coincidently, TVA discovered they and Jumbla were (near) neighbours and that Le Good already knew of the game from a friend who’d been working on the animation.

Jumbla added some graphics to help tell the story, edited music from the game to suit the trailer and added a few finishing touches to make the video more like a promo than just an edited excerpt from the game.

The Gardens Between was a much-anticipated game destined for big things – it had been nominated for 17 other gongs prior to this big one from Apple.
