Gabberish #8: The Work-Life Issue

Screen Shot 2018-12-13 at 10.59.21 am (1).jpgThe final issue of Gabberish for 2018 is out today, exploring the issue of work-life balance. Featuring an interview with Clemenger Melbourne ECD, Carmela Soares (pictured), who reflects on the different cultural expectations in ad markets around the world.

Gabberish talks to Ennis Cehic – recent recipient of the Wheeler Centre’s Next Chapter grant – about life after advertising and his adventures in brewing and storytelling. And Jake Rusznyak and Shannon Crowe share their perspectives on how parenthood shifted their approach to working life.

The issue also includes the usual quality array of gifs, illustrations, essays and graphs, as we ruminate on the push and pull of ad life on our psyches, relationships and personal time.

Says Jess Lilley, Gabberish co-editor and CD at Leo Burnett Melbourne: “It thrills us every month that hard working creative folk contribute their energy and ideas to Gabberish, given we know how precious their time is. Work-life balance is one of those phrases that becomes somehow less tenuous when you unpack it. Who’s to say what’s right and wrong? And whose responsibility is it to make sure it’s observed? We discuss these issues and more this month. And can’t wait for more life, less work over the holidays to recharge ourselves for year two in the life of Gabberish.”
