Kate Halpin is a director signed with Eight.

Three best spots:

Kate is a perfectionist known for her unique visual flair, distinctive colour palettes and nuanced performances. She gravitates towards quirky, stylised comedy or conversely gritty, dark drama... a total boss at either end of the spectrum.
Kate is a graduate of the International Film School Sydney (IFSS), where she completed an Advanced Diploma in Screen and Media specialising in directing, screenwriting and producing. She initially trained as an actor and has a Bachelor of Arts (Acting for Screen and Stage), which has given her an invaluable insight into directing talent.
Before turning to directing full-time, Kate worked as an art director, production designer and stylist for years, which has given her work a distinctive sense of style and detail.

Kate's music video 'Sympathy' by Iluka, recently won Best Australian Music Video at the Clipped Music Video Festival (2018). Her short films have screened at over 35 festivals worldwide, including the Academy Awards and BAFTA accredited Flickerfest International Film Festival and St Kilda Film Festival in Australia, and have won numerous awards including 'Best Film', 'Best Drama' and 'Best Director'. Kate was interviewed by FilmInk about her film, 'A Private Matter'.

Says Kate: "I'm drawn towards projects which have truth, depth and the ability to effect and resonate with an audience, or ones which make me laugh and allow me to have some fun stylistically by injecting a bit of quirk. Either way I love the collaborative process of filmmaking and working with actors to craft nuanced performances which support and enhance the tone of the project."
