GroupM1.jpgTeams at Nine and GroupM in Sydney have delivered 150 Christmas presents for the children at Be Centre, a play therapy center for children suffering severe trauma in Warriewood, Sydney.

The present drive coordinated by UnLtd, our industry’s social purpose organisation, saw the teams at Nine’s publishing sales team and GroupM choose, buy and wrap presents for children aged 3 to 12, who might otherwise not receive any presents at all.

GroupM2.jpgSays Gailene Keen, business development director at Be Centre: “Be Centre relies on the generosity and help of the community to be able to support children experiencing emotional and social difficulties. Christmas is often a difficult time for some families who are going through tough times. We greatly appreciate the support of Nine, Group M and UnLtd for all the wonderful toys they have lovingly collected to help bring some joy into the lives of these children and their families – for some these will be the only gifts they have under their tree this Christmas – thank you”.

Be Centre is one of UnLtd’s charity partner helping children who have experienced severe trauma, such as loss of parent, abuse, neglect and bullying, to heal through one-on-one play therapy.

Says Venessa Hunt, digital strategy and investment officer at GroupM: “We work in a very privileged industry. And sometimes we forget that there are lots of people doing it tough especially this time of year. Instead of doing Secret Santa, the GroupM team decided they wanted to support those who need it the most. I couldn’t be prouder of the team. It really shows what a difference we make when we all pull together.”

Says Matt Rowley, director of sales – publishing, Nine: “Our publishing sales team were very excited at the opportunity to support Be Centre this Christmas, alongside our industry colleagues at Group M. The momentum this initiative received internally is testament to the attitude of the whole team, with the instinct of giving really motivating us all to do what we can to help those less fortunate.”

The presents were delivered last week and are currently being distributed to the children through Be Centre.
