Chapter One past exhibit 2.jpgBringing the local community together over interesting art, food and wine, Chapter One Café and Wine Room, owned and operated by Simone and Justin Drape, co-founder of The Monkeys, is set to present its latest exhibition next Saturday, February 2nd, showcasing the work of globally-awarded local photographers, Simon Harsent and Ingvar Kenne of The POOL COLLECTIVE.

The intimate exhibition presents Harsent’s personal and enchanting series of otherworldly New Zealand glaciers, entitled ‘The Tears of Hinehukatere’, along with Kenne’s work from series, ‘Landscape Deconstructed’, featuring raw compositions of stormy coastal images.

Simon Harsent_2.jpgHarsent’s ‘The Tears of Hinehukatere’ was shot over a period of four days at a place known as Franz Josef Glacier, on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. The inspiration behind the shoot follows the folklore of a Maori legend used to explain the beautiful geological anomaly of Ka Roimata o Hine Hukatere (‘The Tears of Hine Hukatere’).

For Kenne’s ‘LandscapeIngvar Kenne_1.jpg Deconstructed’, the rich tradition of landscape photography is explored, but sets out to distance itself from its legacy of perfectionism, unspoken guidelines and aesthetic formalism. Instead, it seeks alternative ways of looking at and approaching the image of land, investigating acts of damage inflicted and subsequentChapter One past exhibit 3.jpg restoration, with all its imperfections and misguided intentions. The result is a jagged resemblance of times past.

Chapter One hosts regular exhibitions with world-class local artists. A creative space with views overlooking Bondi Beach, Chapter One has showcased the work of high-profile photographers,Chapter One past exhibit 4.jpg including Paul Blackmore and Stuart Miller.

On Saturday 2nd February 2019, all are welcome to view the new landscapes and sample Chapter One’s gourmet platters and boutique wines.
