The 'Show Me The Money' edition
The contradiction of the internet is that it seems to be either really easy to make an absurd amount of money, or conversely, very difficult to find any revenue sources and therefore make any money.
Take facebook...what started as a few guys rating a few girls on campus could soon be floated at $9.5b, while wikipedia, one of the most influential websites in the world, according to a story below, doesn't make a cracker.
INSTANT.pngJeff Anderson and Isaac Silvergate are the creative team behind the multi-awarded and acclaimed 'Great Schlep' campaign that played a part in getting Obama into office. They've won virtually every advertising award, including a Titanium Lion, D&AD Black Pencil, Grand Clio and 10 Gold One Show Pencils. They currently work at New York hot shop Droga5, but now they're working for you.

Hand painted Stella ritual

RitualProject.jpgMother New York has created a hand painted advertising event over 21 days to demonstrate the ritual of pouring a glass of Stella Artois. The same wall in New York is used in this big idea.

See the idea here.

TBWASMP.jpgTBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno along with Tequila Manila was judged as the Agency of the Year in the recently concluded Philippine Advertising Congress held at the Subic Bay, Philippines. The bi-annual event is the biggest congregation of advertising agencies and advertisers in the country. The Agency of the Year honor is given to the agency that tallies the most number of points based on metal count. TBWA\SMP and Tequila Manila won the most number of gold and silver trophies along with a big haul of bronze awards. Second place was BBDO Guerrero/Proximity and Leo Burnett, Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, Campaigns & Grey, JWT, DDB Philippines and DM9 JaymeSyfu also figured well at the awards.

Highlighting post-it notes

Yellow.jpgHighlighters are used to bring attention to certain words or sentences or even an event, that you want to remember. Similarly, Post-it notes function in the same way. In short, highlighters function just like a Post-It note as this campaign from McCann Erickson Malaysia shows.

Getting inside the French kitchen

Snail.jpgThe client's brief called for helping their students gain a deeper appreciation of the culinary skills required in French cuisine. The target were 21 to 40 year old Malaysians participating in courses at the institute and whose only prior knowledge of French cuisine was, at best, that 'escargot' translated to 'snail'. McCann Erickson Malaysia dramatised the intricate workings within a French kitchen by using a symbol best associated with French cuisine, the point was made that not just anyone could become a French chef. You have to earn the privilege of going through many levels, as compared to the easier promotion in the cooking of other cuisine.

Plant a flag for The North Face

The North Face_website homepage.jpgOgilvy Shanghai and Neo@Ogilvy Shanghai has developed a campaign for The North Face with the goal of firmly positioning the pre-eminent outdoor brand in China. The North Face aims to be THE brand that inspires and moves people to go out and explore the world. Targeting Chinese consumers under 35 who are interested in the active, outdoor lifestyle, the campaign capitalized on the brand's red flag icon and its representation of exploration/ The campaign encourages people to explore a new place and plant a red flag using their mobile phone. The challenge was to see how many flags people could plant in 18 days.

Seen+Noted: Hotel rock stories

Hard Rock Memorabilia_Stretcher.jpgTo capture the attention of diners, Ogilvy Malaysia replaced Hard Rock Cafe's memorabilia with authentic-looking pieces of their own. Rather than the usual autographed guitar, they featured never-before-seen 'artefacts' from the infamous hotel stays of rockers. Every piece was faithfully produced to look like an original.

Fervicol celebrate with the "Mooch"

Fervicol.jpgFevicol, established in 1959, completes 50 years in 2009. And that was the brief to Ogilvy & Mather Mumbai for the new Fevicol 'moustache' TVC. The hen-egg, the over-crowded bus, the joint-family - each ad of Fevicol has a legacy of depicting bonding in daily life. This time, the challenge was to show bonding over the last 50 years.

'Moustache' depicts the story of a girl from her childhood to her teenage days to her marriage to her old age and finally her death ...and funnily even her rebirth. The difference being that she lives all her life with a moustache that was stuck to her face during a school play...with Fevicol.

House Rules for Commenting

Here are the ground rules for posting comments on stories: This site is a moderated blog. Comments that are seen to be more abusive than witty and/or constructive will not be posted. Obviously, we do not allow 'hate speech' or comments that are seen as a personal attack, defamatory, degrading or prejudicial to an individual or company. Overly abusive language also adds nothing to any discussion and will not be published. On occasions we will be asking people to contribute work, opinions and views on various topics - you are free to disagree, so long as you observe the above rules and remain constructive.
