joji.jpgAWARD School, the pre-eminent training program for aspiring creatives, copywriters and art directors, has secured a new School Head for its 2012 Singapore program.

Joji Jacob, currently the Group Executive Creative Director for DDB Group Singapore, will be nurturing the next generation of creative talent, taking over from former AWARD school head Guan Hin Tay from JWT.

Jacob’s accolades include being named Singapore’s most influential Creative Director in 2010 and South East Asia’s Creative Person of the Year 2011.

Says Jacob: “It’s a huge honour to be able to help a reputed program like Award school train the next generation of Singapore’s creatives. The school has impeccable credentials and a proven track record. It’ll be a big task to fill Guan’s considerably large shoes as the next Award School Head, but with the help of my peers in the other agencies I hope to be able to do it justice.”

As Group Executive Creative Director, Jacob runs the one of the region’s largest and most integrated creative departments. Tasked with shaping the agency’s creative direction from 2009, the agency has since gone on to become Singapore’s most awarded agency for the past three years. The agency was voted Agency of the Year at both the Creative Circle Awards 2010 and emerged Creative Agency of the Year at Marketing Awards.

Most recently, he and his teams returned from Cannes 2012 with two gold, two silver and two bronze Lions. Jacob also sits on DDB’s regional and global Creative Councils.

Applications for the 2012 program open on Friday 6th July 2012. Applications can be submitted until 20 July and there is a stringent selection process in place to pick prospective students, with lectures starting August 13.

AWARD School students will be lectured and tutored by experts from local agencies.

The ten week program focuses on teaching graduates the power of the idea with lectures focusing on translating ideas for different media channels and covering how to find inspiration, how to bring ideas to life and how to translate them into strategy.

AWARD School is ranked 6th in the top advertising schools worldwide, as recognised by the International YoungGuns Top 10 of Schools producing the most awarded creative students in the past 10 years.

AWARD School has a 29 year history of nurturing creative talent, with graduates including David Droga, Craig Davis and regional creative leaders such as Steve Back, Chief Creative Officer at Ogilvy Singapore.
