How do these creative folks get any work done? I read this site a bit and it jumps from one festival to another, last time I looked it was D&AD, then Spikes in Singapore, then Cannes, Adfest… I’m sure some of these faces have appeared in shots from those ones. Are they upwardly mobile types who, thanks to technology, can work anywhere in the world or do they merely act more as brand ambassadors for their creative networks at the various award festivals? And who pays for this suff? Clients? Or do these shows make enough from entries to pay for an entire team of judges and the press to attend? I work in an office and struggle to get my bit fijished each day, either these people are super human, or just living it large. That would be a good story to read. Cheers.

That diagram is a brilliant summary!
@Richgetsricher, that diagram is right on the money (except there are still ACDs who can’t open a PDF, let alone make one.)
And yes, these people don’t work, they just circulate from award show to award show and drink too much. Just try to get your global / regional CCO to come down to “lead” a pitch and you’ll see what I mean. Even some of the local ones can delegate that trivial task away.
Who is that chap in the blue/grey T shirt? Saw him in lots of shots from Cannes on this blog. I even saw him in a Top Gear episode a while back when as co-CD at DDB London he was judging Jeremy Clarkson’s attempts at creating a campaign for a rather dull VW model. I presume he’s famous.
@1.33pm, I’ll take odds of 5-2 on that the bloke in question is Jeremy Craigen. But I could be wrong. Or drunk.
