Mark Tutssel.jpgLIA has announced that Mark Tutssel, Global Chief Creative Officer at Leo Burnett Worldwide, is to preside over the Non-Traditional Jury in Las Vegas later this year.

Says Tutssel on his appointment: “By definition, ‘traditional’ is considered a customary pattern of thought. I expect the work within LIA’s Non-Traditional medium to be anything but customary. In fact, I anticipate it will defy category norms, perhaps making non-traditional the new norm. The way I see it, non-traditional work is a blank canvas. One that has been stripped of any pre-conceived notions of what a communications idea should be. At the heart of it, non-traditional is creativity without borders. It’s where the future of our industry lies.”

Says Barbara Levy, President of LIA: “In 2012, Mark chaired LIA’s TV/Cinema/Online Film Jury in Las Vegas. During the 2012 judging, Mark and I, along with other Jury members, had in-depth discussions on the future of the industry. As a result of these conversations it became apparent that Non-Traditional should have its own jury and not be judged by the same panel as traditional advertising.  Mark’s unique perspective made him the ideal choice to Chair this year’s Non-Traditional panel.  His forward thinking is totally in line with the direction that I would like to take LIA.”

Tutssel, one of the most awarded creative directors in the industry, oversees the work of Leo Burnett Worldwide and its 96 global offices. His professional success has been rooted in his belief in the power of ideas, and ultimately, that creativity has the power to change the world.

Under his creative leadership, Leo Burnett continues to be recognized for its new-world thinking, consecutively topping the ‘All Gunns Blazing’ category in the annual Gunn Report the last four years. In addition, Leo Burnett has more global offices contributing to its creative reputation than any other network.

Campaign Magazine named Tutssel the No.1 worldwide creative director, earning the title of top global Creative Crusader. He is a member of the Royal Society of Arts, co-authored a book on Leo Burnett’s “HumanKind” philosophy, and when not on an airplane, can be found at home in Chicago or London.

Tutssel has had the honour of chairing the world’s greatest award shows, including LIA, Cannes, Clio, D&AD, Eurobest, Spikes, International Andy Awards, AdFest and the YoungGuns.
