AdStars 2014 entries up 4% on last year to 12,591 from 62 countries: Two Grand Prix awards carry prize money of US$10,000 to each winner

DM9_P1060922.jpgThis year’s AdStars Festival, to be held in Busan, South Korea from August 21st to 23rd, has attracted 12,591 entries from 62 countries – a 4.2 percent increase compared to 2013.

Some great work has been entered this year including ‘The Epic Split’ campaign for Volvo Trucks created by Forsman & Bodenfors Gothenburg and ‘Sound of Honda’ via Dentsu Tokyo. Both were Grand Prix winners at Cannes this year. Many of the entries were submitted by Asian-based agencies; however, the number of submissions from other continents is also inching up, reflecting AdStar’s increasing global recognition. Entries from Europe grew by 11.4 percent, Africa/the Middle East by 60.7 percent and Oceania by 282.8 percent. Furthermore Switzerland, Bulgaria, Iceland, Lebanon, and Afghanistan entered for the first time.

Of the 23 categories the Print category is the largest with 2,646 entries. Outdoor has 1,443 and Film has 1,209.

Entries will be judged by 208 professional advertisers from 60 countries. During the festival, there will be an exhibition for finalists from each category and an award ceremony. The finalists will be announced in the middle of July. Grand Prix, including the prize-winners will be announced at the award ceremony on August 23rd, the last day of AdStars.

AdStars takes place from August 21 to 23 at Bexco, Haeundae, In Busan, South Korea. It is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Busan Metropolitan City.
