Screen Shot 2015-05-20 at 7.38.54 am.jpgWith the referendum on marriage equality happening within days, one of Ireland’s leading creative advertising agencies, Dublin based Boys and Girls has taken a highly individual approach to demonstrating its support for the YES campaign – it has changed its name.

During the month of May and until the vote on Friday, May 22, those visiting the website www.boysandgirls.ie are being greeted with a blue or pink button called “Choose” on the home page.  Clicking on one of these options leads viewers to a message that reads: “To show our support for marriage equality, we’ve changed our branding for the month of May. Choose either Boys and Boys or Girls and Girls but, most importantly, choose #YesEquality2015 on May 22”.

Says Pat Stephenson, founding partner and client service director at the agency: “By taking the step of renaming the business we’re living our creative philosophy of “Daring Simplicity”. It’s direct, to the point and hopefully engaging – the reaction we’ve had has been very positive. We’re hoping that the Yes vote will be carried and this is our small part in that hoped for outcome.”

Established in 2009 with 6 staff and one client, the business now employs 38 staff and has a portfolio of blue chip clients including Three Mobile, Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard, Nissan, Topaz, Danone, Dulux, RaboDirect and Digicel.

The firm recently moved to a new office located in the Portobello area of Dublin.  The site of a former primary school, it has been transformed by Boys and Girls into what’s been described as one of the most imaginative work spaces in Ireland.
