Sophie Woods’ Cannes Diary: Day One

I actually have a Cannes Diary Hero and his name is Andy Flemming. Sorry if that’s weird, Andy. I’d love to be able to give the same kind of commentary for my blog but the truth is, I barely have any idea what’s happening in this adult Disneyland. I feel like I’m in Vegas but replace shady dudes handing out escort cards to dudes in shades nursing hangovers.

I’m not sure what to expect but luckily I have hardened industry professional/strong female mentor/Cannes veteran/my boss Jo de Fina by my side to guide me through this whirlwind.

Contrary to many, I’m scheduled to go to a tonne of seminars and do some learning this week, so maybe I can even give you some breaking advertising industry news and developments! I’m also a ‘Young Lion’ (roar), which means I get to go to an exclusive under 28s gala and watch the hungry cubs on the prowl. I wonder what they’ll let me publish on here….

Look, I am truly ready to be inspired, but also not going to be able to go past the sugary delights of will.i.am, Kim Kardashian, Pharrell and my hero Julia Louis-Dreyfus on the mics. Can’t wait to see how this one pans out.
