Campbell is a British director now living in Auckland with his Kiwi wife.

His commercials have been nominated for BTA and BTAA awards.

He has made commercials for, amongst others, DDB, AMV/DDBO, M&C Saatchi, Ogilvy, WCRS, RKCR/Y&R, and Glue.

In London, Campbell is one half of directing duo Joel & Jamie with 2AM LTD, London.

Says Campbell: “I’m into performance, satire, comedy and realism. Waitemata are on the same wavelength. They’re an exciting company, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in,”

In 2009 Campbell co‐created Cast Offs, a drama series which was nominated for a BAFTA and a Royal Television Society award. He has made documentaries for the BBC, Channel 4, and ITV1. His subjects have included Osama bin Laden, Gary Glitter, David Cameron, Christian virgins, fat people, Bobby Brown, and Gordon Brown.

Says Campbell, “Don’t look for a thematic link. I have. There isn’t one.”

The addition of Campbell continues to establish Waitemata Films as a performance based film company specialising in people, stories and characters.

Campbell’s ads for Marmite in 2010 had the effect of bringing the controversial British National Party to the brink of financial ruin. According to Campbell: “I’m looking for similar fun in Auckland. I like ads when they get people talking.”
