Chirryl.jpgIsobar has announced the appointment of Chirryl-Lee Ryan as head of experience design as of 12 June.

Based in Hong Kong and reporting to David Jessop, managing director of Isobar Hong Kong, Ryan will drive creative excellence and innovation in experience design in Hong Kong and Australia. She will also work with the global experience design community in Isobar, including with Cheyney Robinson, chief experience officer EMEA & APAC.

Ryan is a transdisciplinary designer with more than two decades of industry experience spanning visual, digital, motion, spatial, industrial and strategic design, with a specific focus on human-centered design.

Her appointment reflects Isobar’s continued focus on enhancing its experience design practice in the APAC region, following its acquisition of Fractal Ink Design Studio, India’s leading design hot shop in December 2016. This is also in line with Isobar’s goal of establishing its Hong Kong office as one of the key hubs for experience design in the region.

Prior to joining Isobar, Ryan was part of Fjord, Accenture’s global design and innovation consultancy, working globally with blue chip clients including those in telecommunications, government and finance sectors, where she used human centered design and digital to improve the lives of millions of people around the world.

Says Jessop: “Chirryl-Lee is an extremely exciting hire for Isobar who will turbo-charge our Experience Design service offering. She brings over 20 years of global transdisciplinary design experience to the table and will steward the experience design practice in Hong Kong and Australia, working with clients across the region. Hiring Chirryl-Lee reflects the importance we place on Experience Design as a critical service to help solve our clients’ complex business problems.”

Says Konrad Spilva, CEO, Isobar ANZ: “We were inspired by Chirryl-Lee’s approach to the world – one of never accepting the status quo, constantly striving for better and generally being a natural champion of our ‘no bullshit’ attitude. In a time when organisations around the world are doubling-down on the practice of human centred design and seeing massive payoffs as a result, the appointment of Chirryl-Lee with her impressive experience and proven results is a massive win for us and our clients across the region.”

Says Ryan: “I’m excited to be part of a leading global agency with a vision as ambitious as my own. Our goal at Isobar is to transform businesses, brands and people’s lives through creative use of digital – and Experience Design not only offers new and innovative ways of building the future digital economy, but also builds meaningful partnerships with clients by creating better business value and ultimately, making people’s lives better.”

She is an active member of the global design community, working with industry-leading organisations including Hyper Island, General Assembly and TAFE Australia, and is passionate about design for social good. She was also part of the Project First Light team, an initiative intended to empower people of the Congo with the mindset, skills and tools they need to innovate with design-led strategy and technology.
