Says Haszard: “The animation references some of my favorite sci-fi animations and illustrations from the 60’s and 70s.  I wanted to use distorted timing for atmosphere and also a color pallet that felt faded and aged but also a little acidic.  The Cube is traveling over a graveyard of geometric forms that didn’t quite have the luck to be propelled into the future, and this idea that outer forces are alive and powerful players in the Cube’s creative journey really appealed to me.  As a creative practitioner, I am very much aware of how very much at the mercy we are of external powers, so that’s where the idea of personifying the sun and volcano came from.”

COLLINS developed the campaign, placing the iconic ADC Cube on a journey from adversity to achievement.  Through six animated acts, each created by a different animation or illustration studio, the Cube pushes through challenge after challenge as it seeks to define its place in the universe.

Part of The One Club for Creativity, the world’s foremost non-profit organization recognizing creative excellence in advertising and design, the ADC 98th Annual Awards celebrates global excellence in craft, design and innovation.  Entries are accepted at http://www.adcawards.org, deadline January 31, 2019.  Juries will be announced shortly.
