Silver and Bronze for NZ at Design Lions

Picture 228.pngNew Zealand picked up a Silver and a Bronze at the Design Lions lat night. ALT Group Auckland won a Silver Lion for its 'Hudson Gavin Martin Identity' and a Bronze Lion was awarded to Colenso BBDO Auckland for its work for Papakura & Franklin District Council 'Bleeding Billboard'.

New Zealand had three shortlisted entries, to Australia's five.

The Grand Prix was awarded to McCann Worldgroup Hong Kong for its campaign for Nike Hong Long 'Paper Battlefield'. The campaign to promote basketball for Nike saw McCann's design a template which the professional basketball players then used to design personalised posters.

Jury president Sylvia Vitale Rotta, chief executive of Team Creatif, said the entries had been an improvement on last year, which was the inaugural Design Lions: "Last year the entries were good, but there wasn't anything particularly innovative. You could feel that people were 'lets send something and see how it's going to go. This year you really felt people were sending bigger, larger projects. The creative level was very strong, and all very contemporary. You didn't feel you were seeing projects that were re-hashed or projects done three of four years ago."
