The International ANDY Awards: Elect the jury
This year, under the guidance of co-chairs Ty Montague of JWT andMichael Lebowitz of Big Spaceship, the International Andy Awards has decided to breakwith tradition and turn to the international advertising community to elect the 2010award jury. electthejury.com features a list of 100 plus candidates from around the world that visitors can vote on for the next few weeks. They can alsonominate other candidates before October 15. The final list of 25jurors will then be announced on December 1.
Aussie expats Samira Ansari and Georgina Hofmann, now at JWT New York, were creative directors on the project, under JWT ECD Paul Bichler.
Says Ansari: “The site’s uploaded to bestads with all the credits. It’s getting a lot of press and tweets globally. We’re excited.”

Brilliant. Every award show should do this, will definitely stop their inherent clique nature. Plus you can vote for Banksy. Brilliant.
Kick ass girls. Brilliant idea.
This is a crap idea.
An awards show should have the guts to choose their own judges.
Letting the great unwashed choose leaves a jury no less prejudiced than if they were chosen by the organisers.
Do you think Apple would let a bunch of consumers tell them what products they should launch or not?
12:40 – do you think advertising is in any way as innovative as Apple? I think it’s fantastic and heaven forbid may encourage the work to become more innovative.
I also think it’s slightly condescending to consider the industry as a whole ‘the great unwashed’ – are only people with their heads up their arses supposed to pick judges?
12:40: I think you best actually look at the list of people nominated and maybe even read their bios. You might learn a thing or two.
Why are we Anonymous?
this is crap. if we were going to start using non advertising people to judge shows, we might as well use the actual consumer, not David Byrne.
this is a gimmick. nice try.
I don’t know….as ad people we rip off so called ‘non-advertising’ people all the time. So why can’t they judge our work.
