Adfest postponed due to political unrest in Thailand – now scheduled for mid May
Adfesthas been postponed due to political unrest expected to occur the weekprior to the event next month, and is likely to be rescheduled for mid May.
Here’s the official word from the organisers:
Itis after much deliberation and with regret that the ADFEST WorkingCommittee is announcing a postponement of this year’s ADFEST,originally due to take place on 18-20 March 2010 in Pattaya, Thailand.
As some of you may have read in the press, Thailand is currently facinga difficult political situation, which could affect visitors to thecountry, due to the possibility of planned political rallies, scheduledto be held in the week prior to ADFEST dates.
As you may have surmised, it is the potential for unrest that hasforced this unwanted decision upon us. Rather than pushing ahead anddisregarding the situation, we think a better solution is to wait forthe issue to resolve itself, as we are keenly aware that it may be ofserious concern to many of you who will be travelling away from home.Indeed many governments had cautioned their citizens regardingtravelling to Thailand during this period.
We sincerely hope that you understand and accept our reasoning andsympathize with our disappointment at having to make this difficultdecision.
At this point in time we are hopeful the new dates for ADFEST will beagreed to happen about 2 months from now, i.e. around middle of May.
Of course, we will inform you immediately, the moment we are able tofinalize this change and reconfirm availability and details with thehotels and related organizing bodies, etc.
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by theseunforeseen circumstances and would like to take this opportunity tothank you for your support of ADFEST. We hope that you will be able tomake every effort to join us in May to support the event and contributeto its legacy for the future.
