Rebecca
Carrasco is in New Orleans this week judging the annual international
ANDY Awards, one of four Aussies on the 24 person international jury,
who has kindly agreed to write a daily diary exclusively for CB.
Campaign Brief,
Campaign Brief Asia and Bestads are international media partners of the
ANDY Awards, which has an all-star jury, chaired by Ty Montague, chief
creative officer, JWT North America and Michael Lebowitz, founder and
CEO, Big Spaceship.Day FourOK. So here's where the elephant walks into the room.

We're now at the interesting bit. The bit where I can't say much. But
what was a tsunami of entries is now a small pool of metal contenders;
the kind that dries up a little every time it is exposed to the jury.
With the exception of one or two pieces that I would or wouldn't have
liked to see make the cut, I don't think there will be too many
surprises. There has already been debate about whether there are too
many or too few contenders, however by the end of play tomorrow I'd put
my money on that pool becoming more of a pond, with a water feature.
Today we finished early to go on a tour of the 9th Ward with the Make
It Right Foundation, a charity started by Brad Pitt to reinstate
quality, sustainable housing to the areas hardest-hit by Katrina. 13
acclaimed architects were invited to take part in the project,
developing their own interpretation of a
traditional New Orleans
Shotgun house. A total of
150 of these houses will be built, but the effect of the project on the
community's spirit is obvious. And when you've spent a week looking at
ideas from around the world, you feel like giving an award to the house
designed to float on a rising water level.
Anyhow, with half the jury gettin' down with Jay-Z in the hood until
the eggs, salmon, bacon and shrimp-grits hit the frying pan; tomorrow
is going to be an interesting day.
