Nylon Studios set to launch inaugural Pocket Fest short film festival in L.A. on September 22
There is a saying that “from small things – comes something big” and the inaugural Pocket Fest short-film festival will be testament to these words.
The brainchild of Sydney and New York boutique music/sound design studio, Nylon Studios , Pocket Fest is the first of its kind short-film festival – with the chosen directors working exclusively with a pocket camera provided by the festival’s technology partner, Kodak.
Ten professional directors, with extensive and industry awarded bodies of work, have been chosen to particpate in Pocket Fest, using nothing more than their talent and the Kodak PlayTouch to create an up to two minute film.
Each director has been challenged to include the Pocket Fest signature item – a pair of binoculars – somewhere in the film.
The ten talented directors involved in Pocket Fest’s opening year are Bob Industries’ Harry Cocciolo, B-Reel Film’s The Colony, City Film’s Kevin Donovan, Foundation Content’s Focus Creeps, Gartner’s Ted Melfi, Harvest Films’ The Hoffman Brothers, Independent Media’s Tom Foley, Insomniac Content’s Mel Rodriguez, Superfad’s Justin Leibow, Tool of North America’s Matt Ogens and Workhorse Media’s Angela + Ithyle.
The ten films will be premiered at an exclusive screening event in LA on September, 22nd. The event will be held in the Silver Screen Theatre at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood.

Pock Fest has also teamed up with Inner-City Filmmakers(ICF), an organization which has been providing free year round industry education for disadvantaged youths for over 15 years.
The students from ICF are a pivotal part of Pocket Fest, with the Directors and resource partners involving them in every aspect of the festival – from assisting on shoots, observing the mixing process, shooting their own films and even guest blogging on the Kodak site about their experience.
