Shots issues call for entry in the inaugural shots New Director Award for Asia-Pacific

shotslogo.pngShots magazine (UK) is announcing a call for entries to the inaugural shots New Director AWARD – Asia Pacific in association with the Australian creative advertising organization AWARD, part of the newly formed Communications Council. 

Sponsored by Fin Design & Effects – the people responsible for the visual effects work on Schweppes’ Burst and James Boags’ Pure Waters – the shots New Director AWARD will celebrate the most exceptional new directing talent from Australia, New Zealand and Asia and is being run as part of Circus, The Festival of Commercial Creativity 2011.

“We are very excited to collaborate with shots to recognise the best emerging talent in the Asia Pacific region,” said Daniel Leesong, CEO of the Communications Council.

Two categories are open for entry. The New Director award is for those who have worked in the commercial production field for no more than two years (since January 2009) and is open to independent or signed directors. The Student category is open to directors currently enrolled in a full-time programme of study, or those who have graduated from a full-time programme between January 2010 and January 2011. Entrants are permitted to submit one or two pieces of work with a combined running time of no more than seven minutes.

shots editor at large, Lyndy Stout and the shots editorial team will select the finalists whose work will then be judged by a panel of leading international advertising professionals.

“The awards will be presented to two New Directors whose work embodies the qualities of innovation and creativity, all hallmarks of shots and our partner Fin Design and Effects,” said Margot Fitzpatrick, agent for shots Australia and New Zealand.

The ceremony will take place in Sydney on February 22nd when the finalists’ work will be screened and the winners announced by Stout at a cocktail and networking event for shots subscribers and advertising professionals.
